After coffee I headed to my favourite summer spot in the city ~ the weir on the Saskatchewan River. I used to love rollerblading along the riverbank on hot summer days with my friend Faron and haven't done so in years. They've significantly upgraded the trails along the river which is nice but I discovered that I'm sorely out of practice so I cut my blade short before I hurt myself. Here is what the riverbank looks like these days:
I climbed the train bridge along the riverbank as well; I was amazed at the facelift the entire area has had since I was a regular patron:
Finally I took a stroll down by the Farmer's Market in the downtown core. This didn't exist the last time I lived in Saskatoon and it's a testament to how the city is committed to cleaning up some of the seedier sides of the city and turning the space into something that thrives and brightens a community. After just one day in this city with my camera and my thoughts I could easily picture myself living here again someday.....
